Sedona---Finally

So as you know (if you read my blog), I was having some technical difficulties with my external hard drive.  It had eaten my pictures, and I hadn't been able to blog David and my birthday trip to Sedona.  Sooooo, I unplugged it before we went to Utah and then plugged it back in today, and PRAISE JESUS, it worked!!!

I turn 30 in May and David turned 40 in July so in June we decided to take a birthday trip to celebrate.  We stayed in Sedona and traveled to Clarkdale on Saturday to ride the Verde Canyon Railroad. While we waited for the train, we decided to take the photo op with the cute carved conductor.

The scenery was absolutely amazing.  We were told that we were looking at parts of Arizona that are only accessible via the train.  We were even lucky enough to see three bald eagles (one of the claims to fame for the train); they were breathtaking.

We had first-class tickets (pay extra for them; it's worth it) and each closed car had a private open-air car too.

The train travels two hours into the Verde Valley and stops at the town single house in Perkinsville.  One family lives here with their three young kids. The train literally pulls up in front of their house every day and the engine switches tracks and moves to the back of the train to pull us back down the track back to Clarkdale.  We could even see the family's 18 month old in her crib taking a nap waving at us.  It was really cute.

The next day we took a Pink JeepTour that took us through Diamond Gulch.  It was a little bumpy, to say the least, but sooo fun.  Our driver was fantastic and we learned so much history about Sedona and Pink Jeep.

yeah, that thing that looks like a cliff...we drove down it.  Awesome.

After our tour we went into Sedona for a couples' massage.  It was the perfect ending to a perfect trip.

In case you are interested, we got a great deal on the hotel, train ride, and jeep tour.  Here's a link to the package we got.

sounds so fun! we were thinking of taking a vacation with some of the money we have from selling our house, but then we decided we should wait another year or so and go without the boy and nursing girl so we can have some adult fun, like this! good for you guys.
