New York, New York

WARNING: LONGEST BLOG EVER!

David and I celebrated an early 5 year anniversary by taking a trip to New York. We both had been before but this trip allowed us to see and do all the things we didn't get to do on our previous trips. Here is what we did:

Day 1:
Our flight was delayed 6 hours so day one was spent mostly in the Phoenix International Airport. We arrived at our hotel at around 11 p.m. rather than the original plan of 1:30 p.m

Day 2:
Visited the Met. Here are some of our favorite pieces:

This was carved from wood and was about the size of a silver dollar.

David's favorite--go figure.
This was inside the museum; it was breathtaking.
Took a walk in Central Park (even though it was a blistering 91 degrees with 80% humidity)
A gift to NY from the Egyptian government.

The Days of Our Lives actors that we stalked through the park.
Day 3:
Took a harbor cruse around the tip of lower Manhattan (the weather was much nicer for the rest of the trip.)

It was Fleet Week in NY while we were there; sailors everywhere.
The previous site of the Twin Towers.

Enjoyed the beautiful buildings.
That evening we attend the Adams Family on Broadway. It had just opened and stared Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth.
We explored Times Square on several evenings. It was midnight when these were taken and the square was packed.

Visited the Empire State Building at midnight.

The Chrysler Building...the most gorgeous building in the NY night skyline.
The tip of the Empire State Building looked like some kind of spaceship.

Ate lots of good food at all hours of the night because everything is open 24 hours.
Day 4:
Road the subway to Brooklyn to visit my Aunt who lives right on the beach with her husband and daughter.

Traveled back to the city and had a caricature done by a street artist.

I asked him to make me skinny...thanks dude!
Day 5:
Traveled back to Central Park to visit the New York Museum of Natural History and walk the park when it wasn't miserable and hot.

This man was in the subway station on our way back to our hotel. The little doll was shaking its hips to the music he was playing...hilarious.
That night we visited a Italian restaurant that we had been to earlier in the week and loved. It turned out to be Lydia from PBS's restaurant.

Lydia just happened to be there and posed with David for a picture.
Day 6:
Slept in and then flew home (no delay this time). We had a fantastic trip and can't wait to go back.
